About the project
To strengthen the capacity of Bhutan’s power sector agencies to plan and prepare regional hydropower and transmission projects in accordance with international good practices, with a particular focus on the preparation of the Dorjilung Hydropower Project. Implementation modality: NIM Type of support: Mitigation Technology development/transfer: international good practices, technical standards, hydropower planning methodologies and environmental and social practices Contributes to capacity-building objectives. Use, impact and results: Supports the preparation of the Dorjilung Hydropower Project by strengthening its feasibility study/Detailed Project Report and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment in line with international good practices. The project also strengthens institutional and technical capacity for sustainable hydropower development, including environmental and social risk management, and helps establish a stronger basis for future hydropower and transmission projects. Project component/outputs: Component 1 – Preparation of the Dorjilung Hydropower Project Component 2 – Institutional and Capacity Building Component 3 – Project Management and Implementation Support
